Ghana Days

Ghana days

I am working on details…. We’ll be travelling in August, so much to look forward to.

Looking at all the delightful days “Glorious Ghana” embraces…. Well, some of them anyway. Each day is packed with something new and we embrace it in a true Ghanaian relaxed mode.

Batik is a huge craft in Ghana, everyone loves bright and bold cloth. We print enough to take home and make a top- or you could take it to our friend Ether who has a tailoring shop in Accra
Gabriel explains how to make the ink for Adinkra printing.
Lots of beautiful cloth- handwoven Kente cloth, Ewe weaving
and the indigo strips for men’s smocks up north
You’ve got to try out the merchandise.
The indigo village… we are truly adventuring to get here in a dug out canoe
[ no crocodiles in that area- I asked!]
Empty blue bottles are the perfect gift for a bead making friends- gosh you’ll have to empty the bottles- Sapphire Blue Gin is the most desired shade!
Smash them up, set in them in moulds and fire them in the kiln
  Beautiful beads are the result.

Walking through the forest where cocoa grows to Krobo bead making villages

The beach.
