The Stitching Project

Ahh, The Stitching Project, I received another batch of stitched squares yesterday- they do give me a thrill to see...
The squares are not yet selling as fast as I had hoped but I have now had reapeat customers from etsy- yippee, they were very impressed.

been working on some stitched buttons/baubles  with a few of the ladies...I carefully planned the whole production- down to a length of string to cut the thread lengths for stitching the baubles so they weren't using too much cotton.
Just gone over my first batch with the new ladies and they have used about 5 miles of thread for each button- all the profits will be going in wasted thread!!

Most of the buttons are well stitched though...need to reject a few...which means it will be impressed upon ladies -more care with next batch...and try and impress the importance of ecconomy.
I know a 4 squares take 2 balls of thread- so can monitor wastage....I have yet to stitch a whole ball of thread's worth of buttons to impress on ladies I know how much it takes and please be careful  about usage....
a never ending series of hurdles some days, but we are getting there and the importance of quality seems to be being recognized....

Off to Australia soon, taking treasure to sell, as well as giving talks and teaching workshops, seeing friends and doing office work....so the house here is all topsy-turvey. Things being sorted for OZ, trying to pack up things to move house, pulkling stuff out to get all my packaging sorted on our Pukka Components Products so I can start approaching potential shops as stockists...Can't belive how much effort and thought needs to go into packaging!! Those I have promised samples to...they are almost out the door- yeh!
It is all about the marketing- I would love to be the reclusive artist....but there are others involoved and I need to get out there...still rewards come in more garden time to day after office work [part of which is playing with mountains of silk...so really how bad is it?] is done

hi ho, hi h,o it is off to work we go!!

These all look so wonderful...will have to visit your etsy shop again. I was thrilled with my pieces purchased last month!
I will keep an eye out for where you are teaching and giving your talks when you come home to Oz as I would love to come along.
