Abandonded cities and BLING!!!!

Fatehpur Sikri, a must see on any visit to India, Akbar's legendary abandoned city always impresses.
Only bare walls now, one must bring their imagination to bare of how richly it was turned out in it's day. I know we will see a jewelled carpet later in the day....this will add an extra layer of imagination to their dreams of the place tonight.

If you look up, the barest hints of plaster work still remain in a few spots....

The extraudinarily fine stone carvings are still around, in some places almost polished by millions of admiring hands.

This ladies first adventure into making felt, now all stitched is looking fabulous- sorry i can't say the same about the photgraph, we were bumping along in the bus at the time.
Look closely, there are the lovely aches, fireworks of Diwali, labels from Kingfisher bottles- a great momento of our travels.
Nothing like a bit of bling to get wrapt attention....
Such a gasp as the jewel box opened.....
and see the effect when it placed upon you....

What does one say?? Gorgeous seems inadequate, this is one special piece.....
Another day in the office for me- ohh Taj Mahal is in the diary for today.....I do love my job :)
