Soon, soon, soon

I think now nearly 5 months of torture… Praveen said not more than 6 weeks to start and not more than this pile of rupees…. Well good things take time and they cost…so nearly 5 months and 3 piles of rupees later!

We all hope soon, soon, soon it will all be finished. The new office we have been in since Diwali is a great space, downstairs courtyard is so pleasant and all paved so  much cleaner and easy to spread out. Just the print room, book room and sari storage room to go. Oh and most importantly the Ladies Lunch Space.  Praveen has his beady eyes on it for a steam press but no way possession is nine tenths of the law and we will have it first!

Big changes
Not just in our work space but in what we use.
We ask a million questions, keep our eyes open and yet things trip up.
I would have mentioned a few years ago how devastated we were to find out the handloom we were buying from a well-known handloom group was actually power loom made.
We have since re-examined all the cloth we buy…. What is it with people they will tell a bare faced lie to your face?
We stopped dyeing cloth a long time ago and instead chose to use block print for colour or traditional dyes done in Bagru.
We have spent years lurking around asking questions, looking, trying to understand…. Last week’s Indigo Sutra conference was brilliant, we learnt so much. It was well organized and the workshops based on years and years of experience were so generous with info.
We have also found out a lot we have been supplied from Bagru was not all we were told, it is often late and quality is sometimes lacking....

Latest findings are samples of indigo coloured, hand spun hand woven cloth from Peru that are 6,200 years old!!! Amazing hey?
We visited Lothal earlier this year and it was the small artefacts in the museum that really touched my heart, small toys made lovingly of clay for someone’s kids to use nearly 5000 years ago. Some things don’t change that much.
Was having a giggle with a mate yesterday- using the latest smart phone technology to obsess over khadi and indigo and natural colour…. Something others might have been doing 6,200 years ago without a smart phone. What a good stash to last so long!

Conversation was hilarious...one khadi junkie talking to another. 2 conversations over each other as well... sharing eco dye experience.
And then onto porn.... makes you ohhh and ahhh

We will soon offer eco dyed khadi on Etsy and yearns and cotton fibre paper.... I supply a few shops and a bunch of mates with threads. The Anchor No 8 is wonderful to stitch into khadi. stranded cotton always drives me nuts, snagging, this behaves... there was a picture a day or so ago of plant based dyes on the No 8. Do you think i should offer thread boxes from our stash?

Feed back please if you have a moment? box would be about $22 Australian plus postage I guess.

love stitching with these threads :)
